Roof repair that starts with finding the source

Where water shows up inside isn't always where it got in. We trace the leak to its source, check the parts around it and document what we find before we fix anything. If a focused repair is all your roof needs, that's what we'll recommend.

Signs to watch for

When it's time to call about roof repair

  • A ceiling stain that keeps coming back. The original repair may have missed the real source.
  • Missing, cracked or lifted shingles. Often after wind, and not always visible from the ground.
  • Damage around chimneys, vents or skylights. Flashing and chimney pans are common leak points.
  • Soft or stained fascia and soffit. Moisture is reaching the roof edge.
  • Daylight or damp spots in the attic. Water or air is getting through the roof deck.

It was a pleasure working with Chase for my chimney repair. He was honest and professional throughout the process. Step by step he explained the entire job with detailed pictures. They got it completed quickly and charged a fair price. I would definitely recommend using him for home repairs.

I cannot recommend First Response Home Services enough! After dealing with a stressful water leak that my HOA’s contractors supposedly fixed, I was woken up in the middle of a storm by water pouring in from the exact same spot. I called First Response Home Services, and the owner, Chase, came out promptly to inspect our roof. Chase conducted a thorough, meticulous inspection to pinpoint the source of the leak, assess the existing damage, and catch other potential vulnerabilities before they could turn into costly headaches. His professionalism, honesty, and attention to detail gave me immediate peace of mind after a very frustrating experience with prior repairs. If you need a reliable, knowledgeable team that gets the job done right the first time, call Chase at First Response Home Services! Five stars all the way.

How do I know if I need a repair or a new roof?

Start with an inspection. Two roofs of the same age can need different things. Shingle condition, flashing, ventilation, decking, earlier repairs and how widespread the damage is all affect the answer.

We photograph what we find and explain whether a repair, a replacement or simply keeping an eye on it makes the most sense.

My roof is leaking right now. What should I do?

Call us at (404) 797-8115. If it’s safe, move belongings away from the drip, set out a bucket and take a few photos. Please don’t climb onto the roof.

We can tarp the affected area to limit further damage until a permanent repair is scheduled.

Why does my roof leak keep coming back?

A ceiling stain doesn’t always show where water got in. Water can travel beneath roofing materials before it reaches the interior, especially around chimneys, vents and skylights. If a repair only covers the spot where the stain appeared, the real source can keep leaking.

We trace the likely path, check nearby components and document what we find before recommending a repair.

What is a chimney pan, and why does it matter?

The top of a framed chimney is protected by a metal chimney pan, also called a chase cover. Because it’s hard to see from the ground, rust, separated seams or poor drainage can go unnoticed until water shows up inside.

We check chimney pans during roof inspections and can repair or replace them.

What are fascia and soffit?

Fascia is the board along the edge of the roof where gutters usually attach. Soffit is the finished underside beneath the roof overhang.

Damage to either can point to prolonged moisture, gutter problems or a roof issue, so we look at what caused it before we repair it.

How long does a roof repair take?

Many repairs are finished in a single visit. Larger repairs, or ones where the decking underneath is damaged, can take longer. We’ll tell you what to expect before we start.

How long does a roof usually last in Georgia?

Most asphalt shingle roofs here last somewhere around 20 to 25 years, but heat, storms, ventilation and how the roof was installed all change that number. Age alone doesn’t mean a roof needs replacing.

An inspection tells you where yours actually stands, with photos of what we see.

Is a repair worth it on an older roof?

Often, yes. A focused repair can buy years on a roof that’s otherwise in good shape. If the damage is widespread or repairs keep adding up, we’ll show you why and walk you through replacement options instead.
